What will you play this weekend? (January 8)

The first week of 2022 has passed, and it’s been relatively quiet as everyone has settled back into their jobs. That said there are still some interesting bits and bobs, such as the reveal that grass production is a a little pain for the team Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Elsewhere we’ve had Metacritic Lists Nintendo’s Highest Rated Games of 2021, ONE PlayStation Store in China Recruits Mario and Bowser for Righteousness, and someone perform an Undertale song for the Pope. Yes, it will be a strange year, but at least it looks like a great 12 months of gaming on Switch.

Okay, it’s time to relax and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few mThe Nintendo Life team embers have done just that right below, so feel free to read our articles and then join in with your own via our comments section. Interesting!

Over the past few weeks I’ve added some ridiculous games to my backlog thanks to sales and naturally I haven’t played any of them because Blasphemy save file is still at 88.35% complete. I’m determined to increase it to 100 before moving on to something else, so that’s my #1 priority this weekend.

Let’s say I pass the challenge, I have Down In Bermuda, Full Metal Furies, Katamari Damacy: Reroll, Saints Row IV, Sine Mora EX, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered all would be forsaken if the postman pulled his finger and finally delivered the awesome Lego Sonic set I ordered a week ago. Happy 2022 everyone!

I’m not as crazy as some sales insiders, but I picked a cheeky game or two to tackle. The main thing at this point is Disco Elysium: The Final Ending, I come very early but am accepting the strange. I take it too Figment in a deal, so will aim to get over that before the next part arrives.

In other places i picked it up NieR Replicant 1.2247etc; As a big fan of Automata, I’m looking forward to seeing what this predecessor/remake has to offer.

New year, new game – and this weekend I’ll be playing a lot [REDACTED] because I can match two dates. No, if you’re wondering – it’s not [REDACTED], and it’s not [REDACTED] one in two. Someone else is looking at those things. However, I can promise you this one is great! Be hyped!

It’s the first week for 2022 made! I haven’t played as much over Christmas as I had planned, but have completed the first NieR Replicant roadmap and I’m well on my way to completing route B. On the Nintendo side, I’ve really started House in Fata Morgana after picking it up during a carnival sale – for those who don’t know this is the highest rated game on Metacritic (by far) and to be honest, I have no excuses. I’m still in the early hours but the sheer presentation, story depth and twists in the text are ahead in quality over other forms of interactive storytelling.

I’m also visiting again PAC-MAN 99 which I loved when it came out but admittedly stopped playing shortly after. The player count is significantly less than Tetris so it can sometimes take up to a minute to find a game but once you’re playing it’s very hard to stop. It may not have the survival powers of Tetris but it’s a great game to pass the time.

I picked up a Switch OLED model this week, so I’ll be spending some time this weekend trying out some classics like Luigi’s Mansion 3, Super Mario Odyssey, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze to see what they look like on that awesome new screen.

If not, I restarted Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. I had to go through some of them to review, so I really took my time to absorb everything it had to offer this time. It might also make it to my all-time favorites list when I’m done; the music is just exquisite!

2022 seems like the day one would expect to read from a sci-fi novel. However, this is our Gift and a Great Gift for Video Game Enthusiasts. An unexpected late arrival from the Far East just before Christmas meant I was finally enjoying the East and revisiting the horrors of Death Frame: Maiden of Black Water. EShop soon made gems like Crumble, too.

Game of the week is Megaton Musashi. I feared the language barrier would diminish my enjoyment of the game, but my fear was quickly eliminated after the first in-game tutorial. Might have to jump into anime soon!

As always, thanks for reading! Leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
