whatapp: WhatsApp can bring double verification for more security
WhatsApp is still a relatively secure messaging platform. Despite security measures, scams are rampant on Property Meta messaging app. Some are due to user naivety and to limit this it is expected that WhatsApp will increase security by adding another layer Verification.
As reported by WABetainfo, WhatsApp is testing a double verification system. “Any successful attempt to log into our WhatsApp account from another device requires a Verification for confirmation,” the report noted.
How is the dual verification code expected to work?
Currently, when any WhatsApp user tries to log into the platform, they have to enter a 6-digit verification code. WABetainfo’s report reveals that when the first code is successfully entered, another 6-digit code must be entered to log into WhatsApp. The user will receive another message that will alert them to the login attempt. In case someone is trying to log in to the user’s account, they will immediately know and no one will be able to access it unless they know the second verification code. This feature will be very useful for those who fall prey to some scams that take over users’ WhatsApp accounts.
When is this feature expected to launch?
Currently, the feature is still in development and there is no tentative schedule for its availability. However, when the feature launches, it is expected to appear on both iOS and Android. The feature is coming to beta users but for now, there’s no word on that yet. Please note that there are certain features that do not pass the development stage. Still, it’s a feature we’re looking forward to rolling out to users, and it’s definitely going to increase security for WhatsApp users.
