WhatsApp has been testing a number of new features on its platform, including new emoji reactions for group size and privacy improvements, such as hiding profile pictures and seeing last time from certain contacts. It looks like the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is far from perfect as the company is currently planning to introduce a team icon editor to its desktop customers.
WABetaInfo reported that the instant messaging platform is testing the ability to create custom group icons for the desktop. Also note that this feature is already available to beta users on WhatsApp Android and iOS application since last year.
Currently, according to reports, the company is also planning to bring this feature to the desktop.
According to the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, users can now select another photo as the group icon, and the drop-down menu also includes an option – Emojis and stickers. Meaning, users can also choose to use emojis and stickers as group icons.
Since this feature is already available on Android and iOS, the desktop version is also expected to offer similar functionality. In addition, the group icon editor will allow users to quickly create a group icon by choosing a background color, emoji or sticker and setting it as the group icon.
As far as the official rollout of this feature is concerned, it is currently uncertain when WhatsApp will implement the group icon editor in the final build on all platforms.
