Since Silas was born, I have posted ten times. Only ten.
Since 2019 started? Once.
In previous years, I posted anywhere from fifty to seventy-one throughout the year. (not bad!)
You know what’s fun? I don’t feel guilty. I don’t feel like I let anyone down. I don’t feel like other people’s world stopped because I put blogging aside.
Do I think some of my loyal followers miss me? Sure! But if I know them as I think I do, I know they understand. They know how much Tom and I have been waiting for this phase of our lives, and now that we’ve lived so in the past, we just love to soak in every moment.
So no, I don’t feel guilty. Life behind the scenes is quite often and not always enjoyable (wake up, eat, play, nap, wake up, eat, play, nap, wake up, play, eat, shower, go to bed – — repeat tomorrow), but it was such a complete joy to watch our sweet boy grow up. He’s been our bad napper since forever, he’s obsessed with his mom, and when he’s awake is super sweet, approachable, and engaging. He kept teasing us, and just popped his third tooth! I don’t feel guilty at all for taking this time to “just” be a stay-at-home mom. That’s what I’ve always wanted.
And no, I don’t feel like I let anyone down. That implies that someone has believe in you. Maybe some of you missed me (I miss you guys too! But I hope you’ve been with me on ‘Gram), but overall, I haven’t dropped any franchises that I could have done. Work with or leave you all completely suspended (again, Instagram!).
Certainly, NO one has the world to stop without me. If it did, gosh I’m so sorry, and I hope this post gives you some relief 😉 haha… but basically what I’m saying is, I’m gone. I was very happy. Happier than I probably EVER. But more and more, as I tried to distance myself from my son, I found myself drawn back to my little blogging “home” on the internets. To the familiar editing page, the sound and feel of the keyboard is under my fingers. It feels good, friends. I think I’m ready.
