Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

It’s hard to believe, but Legendary Pokémon: Arceus today is one year old. This Pokémon game takes us back to the distant past and completely changes the recipe we all expect from a mainline Pokémon entry. And, quite frankly, we wanted more than it gave us.

Myth: Arceus finds you thrown back in time by the resident Pokémon god, Arceus, to the region of Hisui – this region later became known as the region of Sinnoh. The game omits many of the traditional Pokémon mechanics and introduces many new features, but the hunt to fulfill Arceus’s desire to “see all Pokémon” (obviously this genie has the power to hand you one). phone in the Poké world) is the ultimate goal. This is more than just catching and fighting — you’re a full-fledged Pokémon researcher.

Okay, being commanded by a PokéGod is one thing, but if a new Legends style game will take place, where do we want it to take place? And which Pokémon are we bidding on? Nintendo Life’s editorial team has their own ideas on where and what will be the star of the ‘next’ Legends game.

So from sublime to ludicrous, here are our thoughts…

“Pokémon Legends: Floette” – Kalos (Alana Hagues, Staff Writer)

Pokémon X & Y not my favorite generation of Pokémon, but I can’t deny that Kalos is a great region and it has one of the most fascinating – and frankly dark – histories of all contexts. Pokémon. Legendary Pokémon: Floette To be exactly what Kalos needed to help validate the legend. But why Floette and not Zygarde or Xerneas?

Floette is a Fairy-type Pokémon that AZ, a mysterious (and very tall) human you meet on Route 13, is particularly fond of. You find out that AZ is actually over 3,000 years old and the former king of Kalos in the giant Pokémon wars. His beloved companion was Floette, who died in the war and was later resurrected by AZ, who subsequently ended the conflict with the ultimate weapon. That’s all we know about the Kalos War, which is why it has incredible potential for a Legends game.

Floette from the past might be calling you to stop the war before AZ stops it on their own. Your starting Pokémon could be whateverbut to try and change it, I think Treecko, Fennekin and Piplup (all with new final form) would work – Game Freak, Please let the Fennekin line be on all four pins. Regional variants are more adaptable to combat. Medics, spies, and all kinds of warriors can inspire some form and evolution. And instead of focusing on catching, this might even focus on RPGs and stats more than real main items.

I’m not sure if the Pokémon Company will ever commit to making a mainline Pokémon game where war is the focus, but there are quite a few ways around it – you could be a spy or a keeper, for example. keep the peace. I just want to know more about Kalos.

“Pokémon Legends: Kyogre” – Hoenn (Jim Norman, screenwriter)

Kyogre

Ruby Pokémon was my first love and the Hoenn region is still in my mind today as one of the most wonderful places. Not only is this filled with some of my favorite monsters, but it also sets up my supposedly favorite Legends storyline with the bickering Kyogre and Groudon being appeased by the peacekeeper Rayquaza.

This is a land that, if we go back in time, will be filled with conflict (pfft, any Pokémon area?) but it’s also one where the Legends are full of natural power. Which of the three will take the main spot is a bit more of a tricky matter. Rayquaza is the obvious choice, calling on a hero from the future to help in the war between Groudon and Kyogre, but it would probably be interesting to focus on either of the latter – a Legend trapped in the their way that you are forced to question whether their bidding is really the right thing to do.

Perhaps the sea is the way to go here. After all, this is the generation that brought those stellar dives with them, and the thought of having that mechanic in a larger open world can really be something special. I suppose Pokémon Legends: Kyogre has a certain meaning to it.

“Pokémon Legends: Dragonite” – Kanto (Ollie Reynolds, screenwriter)

I will be very boring here and just say Kanto words Red and Blue Pokémon. I love Kanto; it’s still my favorite area and, yes, I fully concede that this is a way of talking about nostalgia. However, if there’s any area that I’d like to explore its origins in, it’s this one.

Now, there’s definitely a bit of a problem with Kanto that some other areas might not be the same, and it’s the fact that there aren’t many natural landmarks that really make it stand out; at least not compared to Sinnoh’s Mount Coronet. You have lots of caves, some forests, the Seafoam Islands, and… Right? Everything else that’s unique to Kanto is man-made, like the Safari Zone, the Bicycle Path, SS Anne… So yes, although it’s not the most interesting area from a geographical point of view, but this is still an area I would like to revisit.

As for the Pokémon of choice, I think the obvious one is Mew, but Mew has already been executed right? I’m thinking maybe something that, to me, feels like it belongs in Kanto and has the right amount of mysticism to make for some interesting origin stories. Perhaps Dragonite for example? That thing is a monster and I would love to find out how it formed and behaved before humans ruled this world.

“Pokémon Legends: Regis” – Hoenn (Kate Gray, screenwriter)

I would also pick Hoenn, because I think Ruby and Sapphire are the best games, but I think that instead of having Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza at the heart of the story, it would be Legend of Titans, Regirock, Regice instead. and Registeel (plus Regieleki, Regidrago and Regigigas, why not).

Hoenn has some of the most interesting storytelling in the Pokémon series, so I’ll happily pick Guardians of the Lake, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf as well – but I think Regis is interesting in the way that I want to dive into . In Ruby and Sapphire, you discover them in a hidden underwater room, with cryptic braille messages instructing you where to go and how to summon Regis, and it feels like a buried secret. long ago, like an apocalyptic device you weren’t supposed to be. to find. What people “fear”.

Of course, in the Pokémon games, they turn out to be just creatures that you can catch and name “Fluffy”, if you like — but imagine a game set in the distant past, when The legendary Titans shook the earth and created chaos. , when they were first sealed by the ancient people of Hoenn. And with Regigigas as their fearsome leader, you’ve got an easy way to set the story up: Defeat or subdue the rampaging giants for clues as to where their owners and creators are located. . Wouldn’t that be great?
