Jake DeArruda became the one-day champion on the January 27 episode after beating the six-day champion Troy Meyer. The Vermont native also maintained his winning streak in the last match.

Jake got off to a great start in round 1, especially after finding his first Daily Double. He gave 13 correct answers and 4 wrong answers. New player Sam Meehan gave nine correct and four incorrect answers and finished in second place. Sarah Howard struggled with the transmitter and could only answer two questions correctly. The scores of all three players in the first round were Jake with $6,200, Sam with $2,200 and Sarah with $800.
In the second round, the categories were “Discovery, Saints and Their Cities, Words That Should Rhyme, Mushroom Stew, Thriller, Visiting a Book.”
Returning champion, Jake, was pretty lucky in today’s game as he found another $5,000 Daily Double. He also gave the maximum number of correct answers and earned $26,400 before the final round. On the other hand, Sam did his best to improve his score. Although he finished in second place again, he made a decent amount – $13,400. Sarah’s struggle with the transmitter continued and could only come up with three correct answers. The Durham native finished in third place with a $2,000 score.
The final danger The round did not end well for any of the players. All three got the last question wrong. While Jake was still leading the game, Sam finished in third place after losing all his money on the last bet and walking away empty-handed. Sarah also lost her bet but was left with only a dollar, placing her in second place.
