Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx Dog Comedies Stay Universal will hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
Ferrell and Foxx star opposite Will Forte in the film, which is a live-action/CGI hybrid from director Josh Greenbaum. The story, from a screenplay by Dan Perrault, is about an abandoned dog that teams up with other strays to get revenge on his former owner.
Ferrell was the abandoned dog while Foxx was one of the pups that befriended him. Forte is the master of agile humans.
Erik Feig’s Picturestart was originally developed Strays before approaching Greenbaum and Louis Leterrier as well as Phil Lord and Chris Miller. All are currently serving as producers, along with film president Lord Miller, Aditya Sood.
Universal has chosen Strays from Picturestart and Lord Miller in a preemptive situation earlier this year. The project was under Lord Miller’s first look at Universal.
