Woman’s car stolen by valet at downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee woman is without her car after it was stolen from a service counter at a downtown hotel.

Sarah Phonisay stayed at the Hyatt Regency for the Anime convention and to celebrate her birthday over the weekend.

“When I first checked into the hotel on Thursday night, I asked them to keep the car until Saturday night,” says Phonisay.

But it turned into a nightmare on Saturday night. She asked the servant to take the car so she could go to her birthday dinner; It cannot be found anywhere.

“I still had my ticket number in hand that evening to verify it was my car,” Phonisay said. “They said the car was missing a lot, the key was missing in the key box.”

Perhaps the most shocking thing was how the car was stolen. The suspect did not break into the garage. Instead, the surveillance video clearly shows the person walking up to the valet, who hands over the keys.

“Surname [police] told us that the scammers, personally, went to the waiter and claimed that his girlfriend had his ticket number because they were having a fight or some sort of argument”, Phonisay speak.” Unfortunately, they allowed this individual to see the key with all the keys in it and he picked up my car and took off with it. “

Phonisay said she just received the blue Honda Accord Sport 2020 car, on New Year’s Eve. This is the first car she owns.

“I worked in the medical field for the last couple of years, trying to get a nursing degree, and, buying that car really felt like a little graduation gift for myself,” said Phonisay. speak.

The company that handles valet parking for the Hyatt Regency is Third Coast Parking. The owner, Mike Styke, said in a statement, “We became aware of an incident this weekend that takes the safety and security of our guests’ vehicles very seriously.”

Milwaukee police confirmed they were looking for an unidentified suspect.

Police recovered Phonisay’s work badge, I-Pass, and sunglasses in an alleyway, but she hopes they’ll find the car.

If not, she says she is working with her insurance and is considering legal action.

Hyatt Regency did not respond to our request for comment.
