The Studio Foundation team is focused on making Roblox Studio a world-class “Metaverse Editor”. We provide “a powerful, free toolkit that enables developers to quickly build, publish, and operate their experiences”. As Studio Foundation designers, we combine holistic and systematic thinking with a user-centered design process to empower the team to address long-term goals and needs. immediate demand.

What is one of the most enjoyable aspects of working on your team at Roblox?

Solving complex problems through an evidence-based approach is an interesting challenge. Roblox Studio itself has grown exponentially over the past ten years. It’s fascinating to see how it has evolved from the original “physical editor” on the web to today’s integrated complex platform. Expanding user segments, growing product needs, and evolving technology requirements all contribute to a unique design challenge. We’re not building a disparate set of features, but an extensible system. Similar to math and physics, it’s rewarding to be able to come up with simple yet sophisticated solutions to describe and help with complex situations.

How has your experience on the team at Roblox different from other roles you’ve had?

I was impressed by the unrestricted growth opportunities and the amazing people on the team. During the past four years here, I have been able to explore different roles and areas of interest. It’s also a super supportive environment — whenever I’m looking for feedback to grow, both my manager and my teammates honestly share their incredibly helpful feedback. Other than that, they’re just an inspiring team to work with. Designers, product managers, engineers, data scientists — everyone has helped me gain new perspectives and new knowledge in different fields.

What are the most interesting projects you’ve worked on and what have you learned while working at Roblox?

The most interesting projects are the ones where I get to work directly with our developer community. It’s always fascinating to hear their stories and learn about their experiences — how they got to know Roblox, how they started building in the Studio, and how they faced challenges in their experience and emotions. them in those situations. By connecting with developers, we can validate ideas and uncover new opportunities. It also alludes to my biggest lesson while working at Roblox: solving the right problems is important, but the most important thing is solving the right problems.

What is one thing you love about the culture at Roblox?

I like that one of the core values ​​of the company is “Respect for the community” and I can feel that is embedded in our day-to-day work. In meetings, you often hear people say, “does this solve the user’s problem”, “what does the user really need here” or “imagine you’re a developer: though although this is really difficult.” Those comments come from everyone, regardless of their role or title. We are building products for users, not for ourselves or our imaginary users.
