World Cup 2022: Boy killed in Montpellier amid clashes between French and Moroccan fans | Football news
A boy has been killed in Montpellier during a clash between France and Morocco fans after the World Cup semi-final.
A statement by the local government office said the boy was “violently crashed” by a car in the city, in southern France, on Wednesday.
He was transported to the hospital, but died shortly after arrival, the Herault Department said.
The vehicle was found near the scene and police are investigating.
Video shared on social media shows crowds on the street surrounding a speeding car.
French and Moroccan fans also clashed in Paris after the game. Police in riot gear were called in to disperse the crowd.
Before that, France won the right to play the World Cup final in Qatar after beat Morocco 2-0. They will face Argentina in the final on Sunday.
