World Head Injury Awareness Day 2022


World Head Injury Awareness Day is celebrated on 20 March each year to raise awareness about head injuries and strategies to prevent accidents and brain injuries.

More than 5% of the population suffers from severe traumatic brain injury after an accident. Nearly 89,000 cases of traumatic brain injury are reported in South Africa each year.

‘March 20 is celebrated as World Head Injury Awareness Day to educate the public about the impact of brain injury on quality of life and how to prevent it. “

Theme for 2021-2023 campaign for world head injury awareness day is “More Than My Brain Injury”. The day promotes the correct use of safety gadgets such as helmets and seat belts through various events, which can prevent head injuries in accidents.

The #MoreThanMyBrainInjury public education campaign about what it’s like to live with a brain injury.

This year join the group to increase understand brain injury as a chronic condition and improve care and support for all affected.
