World of Warcraft’s Trading Post Brings Back Cosmetics You Might Have Missed
World of Warcraft To be set up a “Trading Post” full of in-game cosmetics, and according to the description, it looks like a great alternative to the usual battle-passing pattern seen in so many other (and younger) games these days.
That’s partly because there’s no call to spend real money to accelerate the pass, and there’s no way to spend it in the first place. Players can also choose from the items on offer, instead of getting a fixed reward at an arbitrary XP rank. The trading post will bring back items from old promotions as well as cosmetic offers that are usually available from the in-game store for real cash. Transmogs for your device will be available, as well as pets and mounts, all in a monthly rotation.
This means a new currency enters the game (sigh) but it is only usable at the Trading Station and again, not purchasable. In addition, every player with active game time on their account will receive 500 This Trader’s Bid at the beginning of the month. They can earn even more from a set of monthly themed activities, such as “Respawn Player” or “Imbibe Zanzil’s Slow Potion”. They will also earn it for casual play, such as completing quests or running dungeons.

Trading Points will be set up (“coming soon,” Blizzard said) in Stormwind and Orgrimmar — “just outside the Wizarding Quarters in Stormwind” and “next to the Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar.” (Articles not available in World of Warcraft Classic or two classic expansions.) The “Collector’s Cache” chest containing the player’s Free Tender and earned is located next to each post. Open it and get your money; based on screenshot, 500 Trader’s Tender is suitable for some small items.
“We will iterate on this new feature as we test it out on [public test realm],” wrote Blizzard. “Trader’s Final Bid Amount is subject to change.”
The items offered in the Trading Station will expire and rotate, although players can choose an item to preserve while they earn a Tender to claim it, if they so wish. “This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a rewarding new system for players to further personalize their characters and experiences within it. World of Warcraft,” Blizzard said.
