World War II veteran’s 101st birthday celebrated at Palm Beach Gardens

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. – Friends, family, first responders, and law enforcement have come together to congratulate a World War II Army veteran on his 101st birthday.

Al Kaiserman was greeted with a parade of cars and tanks outside his Palm Beach Gardens estate on Friday.

The procession was led by the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Brigade and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The veteran enlisted at the age of 21 and served for five years as a combat medic in Italy during the war.

Richard Kaiserman said: “My father has always been a hero to me. “But it’s only in recent years that he’s told me some stories and you realize he’s really a hero.”

After the war, he attended New York University, where he met his wife, Mickey.

“That was amazing,” said Mickey Kaiserman. “We love each other as much today, 72 years later, as then. It was a love affair. ”

Kaiserman has spent his career as principal and assistant principal at Harlem public schools in New York City, commuting from his home in Queens for 30 years.

Friends and family say he is loved and adored by everyone who knows him.

“Every day we give each other a good morning kiss and every night we give each other a good night kiss and we still love each other,” says Mickey Kaiserman.
