porsche is adding a new color to the Paint to Sample range, named after longtime fan Michael Essmann.
Paint color, Essmanngreen, will be available for purchase on brand new 911, 718 And taycan samples from March 2023.
Porsche describes this color as “vibrant green”.
It was first applied in 1992 on Mr Essmann’s 911 Carrera RS 3.6 after he decided to copy the paint used for his family-run business, Elektro Essmann.
He used Porsche’s Paint to Sample Plus option on his range of cars. 911 yearsand his sons have also applied accents in this color to their Porsche Sports Cup racing cars.
Porsche currently offers a range of standard color options for its entire product line, however, if customers are not satisfied, they can choose a more advanced color from the 170 Paint to Model (formerly called) Color range. as Custom Colors) or select them all and create your own through the ‘Paint to Sample Plus’ process.
The Paint to Sample range includes 115 additional color options for 911 and 718 models, 108 color options for taycan59 for Panamera And Macan and 52 more color options for Cayenne.
For customers who want to go the extra mile for their vehicle, Paint to Sample Plus allows them to provide color samples to Porsche AG for approval. Colors will undergo testing and feasibility before being approved for application.
Paint to Sample colors cost between AU$16,000 and AU$20,000, while Paint to Sample Plus is still more expensive – customers who choose Paint to Sample Plus can expect to pay up to $30,000 depending on market and model.
The process of creating new colors is carried out at Porsche’s main factory in Zuffenhausen, where paint specialists blend several dozen components to the very last milligram to achieve the desired shade.
The formula for Essmanngreen includes more than 100 ingredients.
After mixing, each batch is divided into two separate paint buckets for use on the bodywork as well as ancillary parts. There are different application methods and drying temperatures depending on the part being finished.
In certain cases, it can take up to 11 months for the Paint to Sample Plus process to complete.
