Zlatan Ibrahimovic Wears the Best (and Most Affordable) Collab of the Year

Welcome to Clock of the weekwhere we’ll track the rarest, wildest and most coveted watches spotted on celebrities.

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic can have any watch he wants. Looks like he has practically every watch anyone could want: a Rolex “Rainbow” Daytona, Patek Philippe Nautilusthe “John MayerDaytona blue dialand Submarine “Hulk”. So it speaks to the success of Omega’s partnership with Swatch that the man who can buy a Tourneau still wants to wear the $260 Moonswatch.

Moonswatch met with frenzy when it first launched in March of this year. Swatch and Omega remade the later iconic Moonwatch in 11 different colors and with names like “Mission to Jupiter” and “Mission to Pluto.” On release day, Swatch stores were forced to close early in the day to cope with the large influx of hopeful customers. A man who has been queuing for days at a Swatch store in London is said to have had a knife pointed at him at the front of the line, he told New York Times. For Ibrahimovic, there was (probably) no need to hold a knife. Predictably, these watches will reach secondary retailers in no time, and while prices have skyrocketed, they are still within the orbit of someone like Ibra.

This week, the striker wears a red and white shirt Moonswatch “Mission to Mars” version. This particular watch’s colorway pays tribute to Omega’s Alaska Project watches. This experimental device was intended for NASA astronauts and was built to endure the harsh environment of space in 1969. Its oversized candy-shell red bezel was intended to protect the watch against extreme temperatures. Decades later, in 2008, Omega made a retail version of the most popular works. The history of the Mission to Mars colorway has made it one of the more sought-after Moonswatches. But it’s really hard to go wrong with whatever version of the $260 watch is getting many famous people attest.

Paul Mescal’s Tank Louis Cartier

Mescal’s Cartier is something special. There’s just something the right about black and gold together: it’s the peanut butter and jelly (or maybe caviar and chips) of the watch combo. Cartier has cleverly reduced all the other details here — it’s simply a gold case, gold hands, and black dial with nothing more than the Cartier logo. For a guy like Mescal who has a ton of red carpet events to attend, it’s an item he’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear.

Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques 222 by Michael B. Jordan

Don’t look now, but Jordan is on a clock fireplace. Maybe thanks to his new watch buddy Jonathan Majors? This week, Jordan hit the red carpet for one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwearing one of the best watches of the year, the 222. This watch is one of my favorites coming out of the industry. Watches & Wonders major trade show earlier this year. Vacheron has brought this model back after 37 years out of production and the 222 brings everything great about the super popular Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. They’re all part of an original blend of sports and luxury pieces in the ’70s – but the 222 is 100% more gold.

The Drew Barrymore Show

Rolex GMT-Master II by Drew Barrymore

Barrymore has really gone into her own style lately. The actress and talk show host has been pretty faithful to her signature look so far: an oversized suit, often with bulging cuffs at the forearm, and a bulletproof Rolex watch. Barrymore has a killer collection of mostly classics, heavy on models like Submarine and Datejust. This week, while interviewing George Clooney on The Drew Barrymore Show, she created the red and blue GMT “Pepsi”. Credit to Nick Gould for the position.

Kumail Nanjiani’s Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

When it comes to watches, few things are more interesting than a salmon colored dial. Only the best pieces in the world have this color and Nanjiani’s Vacheron is no exception. In addition to the fish-inspired dial, the watch comes with a platinum case and a pair of moons three-dimensional and made from the same material. This is what Marvel money gives you!
