On October 31, Starship Troopers: Continuum will be released on PS VR2. This multiplayer co-op shooting game is the first to recreate Starship Troopers in virtual reality. This blog will explain the true meaning of the game’s name. But first, please welcome a very special guest! The face of FedNet, the hero of Klendathu, General Johnny Rico!

“I guess I’m the closest thing Starship Troopers has to a hero. My character, Johnny Rico, has been with me for almost 30 years. He spends most of the first movie surrounded by death. He was responsible for the death during training. He mistook KIA on Klendathu. He is promoted as Soldiers die around him, moving up in rank.

‘A citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic, defending it with his life; a civilian does not.’

Finally, Rico has changed. He took that statement to heart and became willing — even willing — to die for the cause. He becomes tougher, stronger, more pragmatic… but at what cost?

In Starship Troopers: Continuum, Rico is the figurehead for FedNet’s ‘Klendathu 25’ celebration. I’m helping recruit new meat to the grinder and you are the meat. You play as a Mobile Infantry Army as they battle opposing Arachnid forces. Thousands will die on both sides. You are disposable. Mobile infantry does the killing and that’s what this game is about.

VR puts you right there, on the battlefield with your team, facing off against big, fast, vicious and dangerous bugs. Like Rico, you are surrounded by death. So look ahead, Troopers! Your duty is to take responsibility and protect the Federation with your life! Or do you want to live forever?

Authenticity has evolved

When developing Starship Troopers: Continuum, we at XR Games wanted to capture the essence of Starship Troopers. As Casper says, it’s a meat grinder. This fight is dangerous and the bugs are deadly. You will die.

Then claim your reward, select a new Trooper, and start again. Kill bugs, earn money, get EXP. Survive long enough and you can make your Trooper a citizen, with the added bonus that brings. Or no, die and try again. This is a meat grinder.

Of course, you store your progress. You earn new perks and guns to equip your next Trooper. You can build a stronger construction. The mechanism that helps you do this is called Continuum.

Starship Troopers: Continuum takes place 25 years after Klendathu, and there has been a breakthrough in psychic research – Continuum. This technology creates a psychic interface through which soldiers called PsyCommanders can control other humans, much like Cyrano in the film.

In Starship Troopers: Continuum, the moment you put on the VR headset, you will be connected to Continuum as PsyCommander. You control one Trooper at a time. Die, and you can instantly get a new Trooper. Your goal is to keep them alive… but accidents happen!

As a PsyCommander, you have access to perks through Continuum. As you level up, you will gain access to more perks and super perks, which can be injected into your Troopers to improve their performance. As your Troops level up, they can gain more perks at once, allowing for combinations to be built to tailor your play style. For example, equip Psychosis Blast to add extra damage to your dash, then supplement it with Adrenaline to reduce the cooldown of your dash. Use Tactical Relocation – move faster the more kills you get – and you get a speed boost!

Additionally, the more you use your perks, the stronger they become. Even if your Soldier dies, future Soldiers can still take on that perk at an advanced level. This is the meaning of Continuum. Even when a Soldier dies, the Continuum grows stronger, justifying every Soldier sacrificed on the battlefield, redeeming every drop of blood shed!

Build your army, form your squad

Starship Troopers: Continuum is an online multiplayer game, great for 1 to 3 players. So, build additional Troops to dominate the battlefield! Over 20 weapon types and over 40 perks allow you to create a different Trooper every time. Keep them alive, achieve the criteria to become a citizen, and receive great rewards that will make you even stronger. But don’t underestimate this error! They’re fast and deadly, with some tricks you’ve never seen before!
