HYATT

Thinking of Hyatt’s Alila brand often conjures up images of entertainment destinations like the Maldives or Big Sur. The ultra-luxury signature of the World of Hyatt network entered the urban resort market when Alila Shanghai opened this month in the Chinese city. At the hotel, luxury and tranquility meet Shanghai style.

The hotel has 186 rooms including 94 suites, all tastefully furnished with neutral furnishings and colors. While visitors may be in the heart of one of Asia’s busiest cities, Alila Shanghai offers a cool, tranquil feel – thanks in part to the water features and 17-foot-tall trees clustered in middle of the lobby on the 4th floor.

Even lower-level guest rooms have walk-in closets here. But most exciting is the 2,626-square-foot Penthouse Suite, which features a spacious entertaining area, city views, and a deep-soaking elliptical tub.
