Google For India 2024: Google Gemini Live, AI Overview Launched in Indian Languages
Google For India 2024 took place today in Delhi with some important announcements around the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. One of the big announcements was the Indian language availability for Google’s voice assistant, Gemini Live, which has been a huge hit among Android users since its launch in May 2024. Recently, Google launched Gemini Live for all Android users in the Gemini app in English. On the other hand, AI overview is also receiving a lot of recognition in the Indian market. Now, just a few days later, Google has launched Gemini Live and AI Overview in several Indian languages.
Living language of Gemini in India
Google is today rolling out nine Indian languages to Gemini Live, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Urdu. Google said, “In India, over 40% of Gemini’s Indian language users relied on voice interactions.” Now with multiple Indian languages onboard, users can comfortably have real-time conversations with Google’s voice assistant in the Gemini App. The Gemini Live language will be rolled out to Android users in the coming weeks.

Overview of AI Language Expansion in India
In addition to Gemini Live, Google is also introducing Indian languages to AI Overwiews, the company’s most used search feature. Overview is one of the important features of Google AI, allowing users to access essential information in a quick and summarized format. However, in India, it is only available in English and Hindi. Therefore, to make it more accessible and celebrate India’s diversity, Google announced four new languages for AI Overview including Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi. These languages will be rolled out to Google Search in the coming weeks.
In addition to new Indian languages, Google also announced the Lens to Search feature for Google Search. This feature will allow users to create videos and ask complex questions related to the video. Google also demonstrated how this feature works, leaving many people stunned. Google emphasized that this feature will be available in Google Search Labs soon.
