Travis Kelce is now an actor thanks to Ryan Murphy
Long before he started dating Taylor Swift, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has set its sights on Hollywood. There are no friendship bracelets decorated with phone numbers when he headline 2016 E! reality dating series Catch Kelce or signed with CAA in an attempt to get “the face exposed from under the helmet” when he speak Vanity fair last June. Now, in the midst of his famous relationship, Kelce has stepped deeper into his showbiz era by taking on his first major on-screen role.
Kelce has been selected Ryan Murphyupcoming TV series of ridiculous, based on Duration. He will star in an undisclosed role alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, And Lesley Manville on the show, which is said to have just begun production and is expected to premiere in the fall.
The NFL star confirmed the news in an Instagram Story featuring a video of him and Nash-Betts. “Guys, guess who I’m working with in ridiculous?” she asks in the video before turning to Kelce. “Entering new territory with Niecy,” Kelce added. Murphy, who offered major acting opportunities similar to films like Lady Gaga And Kim Kardashian in seasons American Horror Story, provocative ridiculous back in February, with a video in which Nash-Betts could be heard saying: “I don’t know when it started, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s different now. There has been a change, like something is opening up in the world – a kind of hole to nothingness.”
The 34-year-old Kelce enters next season with the Kansas City Chiefs following the team’s third Super Bowl victory in five years. He was also recently ordained highest paid tight end in the league with a contract worth an estimated $34.25 million lasting until 2027.
But off the field, Kelce appears to be building a post-football career. In addition to successful co-hosting A new level audio file alongside his brother and former NFL center Jason Kelce, Travis also organized Saturday night live in March 2023 and returned to the sketch comedy series for a guest appearance with Swift last fall.
