Moss I and Book II are still solid VR staples
Moss And Moss: Volume II remains the same as these ongoing VR staples, even years after the original 2018 release. We see both items appearing on new platforms years after launch. After all, they both only launched the PS5 in 2023. Most recently, along with Meta Quest 3S launch, both games finally received Additional improvements and updated in September 2024. After going back and playing them after the aforementioned update, it’s easy to see why.
Partly it is the premise of both Moss And Volume II. These aren’t VR games that try to give you a first-hand experience of a massive adventure game or action RPG, although the scope is admirable. You are the one who accompanies a mouse named Quill and aids her as she first tries to save her immediate home in the first part, then saves the entire world of Moss in the second part .
As such an assistant, it means you have more freedom to explore and solve puzzles. After all, we trust and expect Quill, our partner, to help with some of the work. Therefore, we do not necessarily have to undergo actions or activities that can lead to motion sickness or unpleasant effects. We’re allowed a little more freedom with our actions and don’t need to worry about demanding precision because we’re facilitating puzzle solving and progression.
This time period allows for a lot of reach and accessibility that not every VR game offers, which is beneficial for Moss And Volume II. The genre is generally very well accepted on the platform, as adventure games often allow players more time to react and the puzzles are always welcoming to everyone. It doesn’t require a lot of sudden movements or loud activities meaning those new to VR or gaming in general can easily adjust. Since we’re working alongside a heroine who can give us insight and hints, but won’t hold our hand as we go through it, that’s also a comfort. to ease the experience and allow for more characters and storytelling.
It also helps Polyarc continue to improve Moss And Volume II experiences. The most recent update with the launch of Meta Quest 3S is a perfect example. It includes visual updates and fan-requested features. As I’ve played the original games before, going back and being able to completely turn off combat is quite beneficial. Not bad, as I appreciated the way it was handled, but it’s another good choice both in terms of reach and accessibility. It allows someone to kick back and, because that stressor is removed, can appreciate the other elements of the game. Additionally, additional visual improvements mean it looks sharper, better looking, and more in line with what we’ve come to expect from VR games as technology improves.
Moss And Moss: Volume II it always feels like they’re still relevant VR games, and spending a few hours with each will reveal why. The nature of both adventures shows how welcoming they are to both general gaming or VR headset newcomers. In fact, Polyarc is also constantly looking at what players might want, and its updates go even further to ensure they remain staples even six years after the original launched.
Moss me And Moss: Volume II available on PS VR and PS VR 2 for PS4 and PS5, Meta Quest headset, and other VR headsets through Steam.
