Police arrested Tiffanie Lucas on November 8, 2023, after responding to a shooting on Bentwood Drive. Detective Richard Beahl testified that police found Lucas collapsed in a neighbor’s yard. During the initial investigation, Lucas allegedly told authorities that Facebook and the Internet manipulated her into killing her children. She also deliberately asserted that the incident was “an accident”.
Nearly a year after her sons’ deaths, Tiffanie Lucas pleaded guilty to two counts of murder on Wednesday, October 23. WHAS11. According to PEOPLE, Lucas’ guilty plea comes a month after her attorney filed a motion with the court to consider an insanity plea. The motion states that the defense intends to present expert evidence about mental condition at trial.
The defense’s reason for changing course remains unclear, but the families of Maurice Baker and Jayden Howard want Lucas to receive the maximum sentence.
“She should be in jail,” Maurice’s aunt, Bobbie Baker, told reporters. “Let’s give them some form of justice. They don’t deserve this. They are children.”
Bobbie Baker also mentioned that the family allegedly contacted CPS about Lucas multiple times before she tragically killed her two sons.
“We called because her friends called me and told me she was high and had to take them to the shower at three in the morning,” Baker said. “Cold hail. And I called CPS, but they didn’t do anything.”
