Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythm Festival is a welcome addition to the PS5

We haven’t seen any yet Taiko no Tatsujin PS5 games until Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. In fact, it’s been a while since an entry appeared on a Sony console. The last one is Taiko no Tatsujin: Drumming session ABOVE PS4 returns in 2017. We’re due, and while not too many have changed from the Switch version of the game, it’s still a welcome and much-needed addition to the PS5 rhythm game library.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is largely unchanged on platforms like the PS5 from the Switch, as most of the additions involve some tweaked songs or increased FPS. So Thunder Temple Taiko Mode involves going through a story with Don, Katsu, and newcomer Kumo-kyun. You can earn rewards for doing things like advancing the story, getting coins, earning custom items. The point is to play through tracks in four levels of difficulty, alone or with friends. There are Taiko Land mini-games, in which case you can assemble a band to have up to four people play with you. But that’s pretty typical fare for the series.

So, one of the biggest selling points Bandai Namco has launched Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival Ahead of launch is the increased FPS on PS5. It promised to run at 120FPS before launch, and after playing I can confirm that’s true. At least, it seems so. To be honest, I might have started to find it difficult to tell at that point, especially with this type of game. But I will say that it runs very smoothly and without any hesitation on more difficult tracks with packed note samples like “Into the Night” and “Colorful Voice” on the Extreme.

Speaking of the song, that is other area in there Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival The PS5 version is different, as the song list is larger and has some other exclusive features compared to the Switch version. One of them is something you might not notice unless you play both games and really understand everything. See, the Anime section is now included Spy x Family‘s “Mixed Nuts.” More obvious are the changes in the Game Music section. Just as you would expect, “Star ally Kirby Medley,” “The Legend of Zelda Main Topic,” and “Super Mario Bros” from the Nintendo Switch version is gone. They are replaced by “Dr. Wily Phase 1” from Mega Man 2“Final Surprise” from character 5And “World of monster hunters Medley.” It delivers character 5 Base game song count two max, which is great, and I like “The Last Surprise” better than “Life Will Change,” so I appreciate that!

The other major addition is Run! Ninja Dojo, one of the minigame modes, is present in Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival on PS5 at launch. It is found in the Taiko Land section. Is it okay? It’s like this is a drumming game that’s more about precision and input than enjoying the music. If you don’t plan to play the game locally with others, it may not appear. If you can play it, it’s good. It’s a race to stay ahead of other players and get to the other side of the screen with your perfect time, as failures set you back.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a fun entry in the series, and it’s a great place to start on PS5 if you’ve never played it before. There’s plenty to do if you’re playing solo, as you get over 70 songs and the option to subscribe to a Taiko Music Pass for more. You can compete with others in mini-games or by playing through tracks. The addition of four extra tracks and increased FPS is a good enough benefit. However, if you own the Switch version, you don’t need to buy it again.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival available on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X and PC.
