Sega releases new Sonic game, exclusive to… Topgolf location?
Sega has released a brand new game sound game, but don’t expect to download it on your Nintendo Switch anytime soon (in fact), as it’s exclusive to Topgolf.
Okay, Topgolf Sonic the Hedgehogoriginally published in the latest information Sonic Central Galleryis currently playable at Topgolf locations across the US and Glasgow, with more localized versions to come at other locations worldwide in First quarter of 2025. The game was developed exclusively by Topgolf itself in collaboration with Sega, so we don’t expect anything close to the scale you’d expect from console titles developed by Sonic Team proper.
Instead, the game will use Topgolf’s ball tracking technology to allow attendees to practice their shots while also allowing Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles to race through the Green Hill Zone and Sky Sanctuary in an effort to force to climb the rankings. Sounds neat, really!
Here’s what Topgolf Brand Director Geoff Cottrill had to say:
“At Topgolf, we believe in the limitless power of play and creating moments of joy for everyone who enters our venues. The cross-generational appeal of Sonic’s iconic energy and speed gives our Players a fresh, playful way to enjoy a little fun with friends and family. The new Sonic game in partnership with Sega absolutely takes the Topgolf experience to the next level.”
Exclusive merchandise will also be available as part of the collaboration, including hats and t-shirts featuring Sonic himself clutching Topgolf ‘What’s certain’ club.
