Expansion packs and DLC are now “eligible in all categories” at The Game Awards
Ahead of the reveal of the nominations for this year’s ‘The Game Awards’, it appears there have been some debate online about the new eligibility rules.
According to Frequently asked questions on the official website“expansion packs, new game seasons, DLC, remakes and remasters” are now eligible to be nominated in “all categories”. This also influences whether the judges consider it “worthy of nomination” and also considers the overall “newness” of the content, price and value.
“The Game Awards aim to recognize the best creative and technical work each year, regardless of the format in which that content is released. Expansion packs, new game seasons, DLC, remakes and remasters are eligible in all categories, if the judges consider the new creative work and technical work worthy of nomination. Factors such as the novelty of the content and the price/value of the It needs to be considered.”
The majority of online comments seem to be referring to this Old ring‘s expansion arrived in June. Several other comments have also taken note what if this was already there, expansions for games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could potentially be in the running for certain awards.
Game Awards creator and host Geoff Keighley has announced the nominations for 2024 will be announced tomorrow. November 18. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of this event.
