We are delighted to announce that at last mareOur engaging VR puzzle adventure launches on PS VR2 today. Our team is excited to share our hard work and love as well as all the unique features of this enhanced version of PS VR2. First, enjoy our launch trailer:
As you can see from the video as well as the gameplay clips below, Mare has a beautiful, easy-on-the-eyes art style that, combined with minimalist storytelling, creates a unique world in which players will get lost. as they journey through it. In Mare, you will play a benevolent force, embodied in the world in the form of a mechanical bird. From the beginning, you will meet a young girl and go through this adventure together, helping each other along the way and eventually discovering their destiny.
You will use lightning-like powers to aid your NPC companion’s path by interacting with and activating objects that will shape new paths for her to traverse. You will need to keep a close eye on her to keep her safe, as vicious enemies will suddenly appear and attack her when unobserved. Risking her safety to open a new path could put your friendship in jeopardy. When this time comes, what will you do?
Take Mare to the next level with PS VR2
At its core, Mare is a captivating experience, drawing players into a one-of-a-kind, enchanting atmosphere.
To improve this, we also used PS VR2 Headset feedback. For example, when flying into a storm cloud, you will feel rain falling on your face. Mare takes full advantage of Foveated rendering on PS VR2, dramatically increasing performance as the game runs at a steady 90fps.
Eye tracking games and game modes
One of the key elements of this version is that players can now enjoy and complete the entire game using only eye tracking input.
To enable this feature, Mare has two game modes, Advanced and Classic. Classic mode uses PS VR2’s eye tracking feature to create a balanced atmospheric experience. Players can both select and interact with different puzzle tricks just by looking. This led us to make a special effort to design clear layouts for in-game objects, so that eye-tracking selections wouldn’t happen randomly. Luckily, because PS VR2’s eye tracking is so accurate, this allows us to minimize accidental selections with eye tracking.
Advanced mode uses the PS VR2 Sense controller and includes more puzzles and content as well as additional interactions, such as pulling objects with lightning. Several levels have been redesigned and expanded to accommodate these new innovative features and puzzle complexity. Additionally, the Sense Controller’s in-game avatar has a handy compass, making it easier for you to track your AI companion’s location and provide helpful hints throughout your journey.
Mare features a world created like a painting, with every environment meticulously simulated from the ground up, this and an ethereal soundtrack bring the world to life on PS VR2.
