Sources say Jamie Dimon has not spoken to Donald Trump
A source close to the JPMorgan CEO said Jamie Dimon has not spoken to Donald Trump in at least the past few months. Luck.
A report Friday in New York Post OfficeIt is incorrect for sources to say the two have been communicating for months through secret channels.
Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Sources close to Trump told Parcel that conversations began before the election and continued afterward, focusing on plans to cut spending, banking regulations, taxes and trade.
Earlier this month, Trump ruled out Dimon’s role in his administration amid speculation that the Wall Street giant could be considered for Treasury Secretary.
“I respect Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chasevery much, but he will not be invited to become a member of the Trump Administration. I thank Jamie for his outstanding service to our Country!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on November 14.
In a meeting later that day, Dimon replied that he had not interested in serving in the Trump administrationsaying, “I haven’t had a boss in 25 years and I’m not ready to start.”
That came a month after Trump’s Truth Social account posted a screenshot falsely claiming that Dimon had endorsed him for president, causing JPMorgan flatly denies that. Trump later said he knew nothing about the post and explained that someone else had posted it.
However, Dimon did not endorse Trump or Kamala Harris in the presidential election His wife campaigned for Harris.
However, supporters of the president-elect have pointed out some favorable comments from Dimon, e.g his praise in Januarywhen he said Trump was “partly right about NATO, partly right about immigration. He has developed the economy quite well. Trade tax reform has been effective. He was right about some issues in China.”
Dimon also said earlier this month that Trump is not against tradeadding that his tariff plans would “bring everyone to the negotiating table.”
