Final days to get your Ikon Pass to ski for less this year: Plus, how to save an extra 20%


Winter is here. The snow is falling, the lifts are running and the skiers are making their first turn. In fact, some ski resorts are even opening earlier than usual due to the early snow of the season.

Just remember, if you’re looking for children’s tickets, there are some options that cost less than the $299 minimum spend required, which means the 20% refund offer won’t be triggered if you buy it yourself. Eligible resorts may vary by pass level. These resorts include both larger and smaller names, such as Aspen Snowmass, Steamboat, Copper Mountain, Palisades Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain, Deer Valley, Jackson Hole, Tremblant, Taos, Big Sky, Sugarloaf and Stratton in the US, Canada and more.

There’s a cheaper Ikon Base Pass with some restrictions; mid-range Ikon Base Plus pass with similar restrictions but more mountain access; Full Ikon Pass; and a two-, three- or four-day “session.”

Ikon Pass Price 2024-2025

For the 2024-2025 ski season, Ikon Base Pass prices are:

  • Adult: $1,019
  • Skiers from 13 to 22 years old: $749
  • College students/nurses/military personnel: $739
  • Children from 5 to 12 years old: $369
  • Children 4 years old and under: $99 (although many mountains offer free skiing for 4-year-olds)

The Base Pass has some off-peak days, unlimited skiing at 14 destinations, and up to five days at 39 additional mountains.

You can add five-day access to Aspen Snowmass, Deer Valley Resort, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Alta, Sun Valley, Snowbasin and Taos for an additional $250 with the Ikon Base Plus Pass for adults. (Closeout dates include December 26-31, 2024; January 18-19, 2025, and February 15-16, 2025. Southern Hemisphere shutdown dates include from July 6 to 21, 2024 and July 5 to 20, 2025.)

For the 2024-2025 ski season, the full Ikon Pass price is:

  • Adult: $1,449
  • Skiers from 13 to 22 years old: $1,119
  • College students/nurses/military personnel: $1,059
  • Children from 5 to 12 years old: $439
  • Children 4 years old and under: $149 (though remember that many mountains offer free skiing for 4-year-olds)

This pass has no blackout dates and offers unlimited skiing at 17 destinations and up to seven days at 42 additional mountains.

For the 2024-2025 ski season, Ikon Session Pass prices are:

  • Adult: $549 for four days, $459 for three days and $329 for two days
  • Skiers from 13 to 22 years old: $439 for four days, $369 for three days and $269 for two days
  • College students/nurses/military personnel: $439 for four days, $369 for three days and $269 for two days
  • Children from 0 to 12 years old: $329 for four days, $269 for three days, and $209 for two days (although many mountains offer free skiing for children as young as 4 or 5 years old)

This pass gives you up to four days of skiing at 43 destinations, although blackout dates apply at all resorts. For an adult, this means between $137 and $165 per day, which may or may not be a bargain, depending on where you want to ski.

For example, in Steamboat, a one-day lift pass can cost up to $270, and a four-day walk-up pass can cost nearly $1,050. This makes the pass very valuable. If you’re an East Coast skier, you might not find that a good deal.

Remember that this is the final and final price. Once the pass expires on December 12, there will no longer be an opportunity to purchase the Ikon Pass. So if you want to ski for less, lock your pass within the next few days.

New for the 2024-2025 season

If you had an Ikon Pass last year, there are some improvements for this winter.

To start, when you purchase a 2024-2025 Ikon Pass, you’ll receive two additional Friends & Family discounts for a total of 12 deals this winter. These discounts provide up to 25% off the posted one-day lift ticket price for the discount date used at a qualifying Ikon Pass destination.

There are also many money-saving discounts from Ikon Pass partners, such as Under Canvas, Camp Woodward, Blenders Eyewear & Products, Ship Skis, Db Bags, F45 and The North Face. There are also discounts on heli-skiing and heli-hiking trips.

There have been some – though not many – changes to access rights. Crystal Mountain will now have unlimited access with the Ikon Pass, perfect for those living in or around Washington. Sierra-at-Tahoe in California has now also been approved.

Additionally, reservations will still be required at select resorts for the 2024-2025 season.

Guarantee plan

Making expensive purchases and not knowing what the next season will bring can be a scary thought.

Luckily, Ikon still delivers “Confidence to Buy” Plan for the 2024-2025 season. This is the same package introduced over the past few years and is automatically included in the price of your lift ticket. This allows any pass holder to receive a credit for the price paid to apply to next year’s ski season (in this case the 2025-2026 ski season) for any reason without need to ask.

You will have until December 12, 2024 to select this option. Note: If you purchased a pass this spring and used it during the spring ski season, you will not be eligible for a credit.

Use a payment plan

Ski passes are a big investment. Luckily, there is one payment plan option for Ikon Pass if you want to lock in the current price and split payments equally.

You’ll make a $0 deposit and then have the option to spread payments over three, six or 12 months – just pay attention to the annual percentage rate. During the checkout process, you can see your options and the costs depending on the plan chosen.
