The next Super Mario movie is more than a year away, but one voice actor who appeared in the first movie as Spike has cast doubt on a return.

Spoke to ScreenRant recentlyComedian and actor Sebastian Maniscalco said he had little faith in Foreman Spike appearing in the second film. Admittedly, the character is more of a cameo than anything, paying homage to the arcade and NES title Sabotage the crew.

Here’s his funny quote about exactly why he doesn’t think Spike will return:

So we went to Universal Studios and they had a Super Mario store with all the merchandise. I was with my kids and said, “Guys, come on. I’m going to show you Dad’s personality in a stuffed animal.” No Spike, nothing. It stops at me. It’s every other character, and then there’s me, I have no animals, no stuffiness, no nothing. So the fact that I don’t have a stuffed animal doesn’t give me much confidence that I’ll be back for a sequel. I haven’t heard anything, so your guess is as good as mine. [Chuckles]

Some comment on social networks also quick to note that at the end of the first movie, Mario and Luigi have moved to the Mushroom Kingdom – with Spike located in Brooklyn.

Obviously, Maniscalco’s comments don’t necessarily guarantee anything yet, and we’re sure the movie could be suitable for anyone from the Mario universe in their next outing, if they really want to – for whether it’s a full role or just a short role. cameo, like many others in the original film.

The source also notes that the main cast hasn’t even been confirmed for the second Mario movie, but it’s probably easy to see who will return at this stage. Toad Keegan’s voice actor Michael Kay mentioned in October about The sequel will have a “slightly broader scope” and features some “Really Awesome Easter Eggs”.

The next Mario movie is expected to arrive in the US on January 1 April 3, 2026 and in many other territories in the same month. According to Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto, this is “a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros.” game.
