Capcom plans to continue “Reactivating Inactive IPs”
Some of the biggest surprises at this year’s Game Awards show came from Japanese video game giant Capcom with the revival of classic IPs like Okami And Onimusha.
In the company’s press release on its official website, Capcom has now made it clear that this is part of an initiative focused on “reactivating dormant IPs” in the “nearby” library. We haven’t released any new games yet.”
“The company is working to further enhance business value by leveraging its rich content library, including reviving past IPs like the two titles announced above (Omimusha, Okami ), to continuously create high-quality, highly effective games.”
Capcom has recently released games and collections based on Lawyer Ace and even does wonders with compilations like Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection. Leading into 2025, it has a new one Monster hunter games on the go and other fighting collection is about to expire.
And if you’re wondering about the legendary Blue Bomber MegamanIn June this year, during the shareholder meeting, the company mentioned it is always considering what will happen next. IN a survey in the same monthit asked fans which movies they’d like to see remade – with titles like Breath of fire present in the top 5.
Another Japanese company that’s been busy reviving its classic IP is Sega – with plans to bring back franchises such as Crazy taxi, Shinobi, Jet radio and even Virtua fighter.
