The 70s classic Hello Kitty collection arrives as a Gacha toy

IP4 will release a retro Hello Kitty gachapon toy collection in December 2024. The 70s Design collection uses older Hello Kitty designs on retro items you may already have purchased or used during childhood.

A total of six prizes can be obtained in this collection. They are:

  • Bandana (red or blue)
  • Pencil case
  • Square bag (red or yellow)
  • tissue box

The cost is 400 JPY ($2.60) per test.

Hello Kitty’s basic design has not changed since it first appeared on the market last year 1975. She looks like a mouthless white cat with a red bow on her left ear. However, the classic Hello Kitty collection doesn’t have as many designs as it does today, and the colors of the products seem bolder than Sanrio’s modern offerings. In addition to Kitty, the designs on the products also remind of the past. They look busy due to their checkered pattern and each block has an image.

2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty’s first appearance, and Sanrio has released many products and partnered with various companies to commemorate this. Goods began appearing as early as the year end of 2023. Companies like Clinique, Takara TomyAnd crocodile has also released commemorative merchandise for the anniversary.

The IP4 Hello Kitty classic collection will appear in gachapon machines in Japan in December 2024.
