The artisans make everything by hand. In the video, we can see they even mixed the lacquer by hand. When drawing Pokemon on bowls, they use a technique called maki-e. After drawing the design by hand, they sprinkle gold and silver onto the final image. However, as a result, this makes the price per bowl much more expensive. A bowl costs 16,500 JPY, which converts to 105.60 USD.
