According to KRQE NewsIn March 2022, Baldonado was reportedly involved in an altercation with Ruiz. Furthermore, the incident allegedly occurred behind Lindy’s Diner in downtown Albuquerque. each Law & CrimeOrtiz-Chavez allegedly orchestrated the incident between her son and the 16-year-old girl after her daughter, who was pregnant, accused Ruiz of hitting her.

In the end, the 16-year-old boy was shot dead.

Baldonado – who is believed to be the same age – was initially charged with first-degree murder in 2023, per EVERYBODY.

Jail calls allegedly showed that Ortiz-Chavez wanted to confess to killing Ruiz. However, Baldonado insisted she did not do that. Prosecutors believe that Ortiz-Chavez initially let her son face the murder charge because he was a minor and would receive a lighter sentence.

However, in March 2023, Baldonado’s brother allegedly messaged a woman on Facebook about his “brother… not ‘telling’ his mother,” per Law & Crime.

“I have a brother locked up because of her,” Baldonado’s brother told the woman. “…I hate her for what she did. He deserves to go home to his daughter. She will never know him at all because she is a selfish person.”

At this time, the woman came to report the information to the police. Ortiz-Chavez was then arrested and charged with second-degree murder by enhancement of a firearm. each KRQE NewsShe pleaded guilty on Wednesday, January 15.

Law & Crime reports that the New Mexico mother could face up to 18 years in prison when sentenced. Meanwhile, Baldonado’s charges have since been updated to “conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and aggravated assault.” EVERYBODY adding that he will remain behind bars until he is 21 years old.

The incident is believed to have occurred in July 2024 and left Vickers’ daughter, Scarlett, with a wound 11cm deep.
