Nintendo shuddered

There have been all kinds of acquisitions happening in the video game industry recently, and now it’s Nintendo’s turn.

Today, in an official press release, the Japanese company announced the acquisition of Miami, Florida-based studio Shiver Entertainment. Shiver previously worked for Embracer Group, developing and adapting games such as Life and death battle 11 And Hogwarts Legacy for Nintendo Switch.

In a statement, Nintendo clarified that it will acquire “100% of the outstanding shares of Shiver and make it a wholly owned subsidiary”. Shiver’s focus will remain the same – continuing to port and develop software for “multiple platforms” including the Switch.

“By welcoming Shiver’s experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources to port and develop software titles. Going forward, even after becoming part of the Nintendo corporation, Shiver’s focus will remain the same, continuing commissions for ports and software development for multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch will be completed pending the fulfillment of all conditions ended according to relevant practice.”

According to a footnote, this acquisition will have only a “minor effect” on Nintendo’s results for the current fiscal year.

Shiver Entertainment, Inc. was founded on December 11, 2012 by John Schappert. The studio is skilled in both “video game software porting and development” and has previously worked on series such as squiggly, Need speed, Guitar hero, FIFAAnd NFL madness.

This latest industry development follows Embracer Group streamlining its operations while downsizing and laying off multiple teams.
