Vivo to open Rs. 3,000 crore mobile manufacturing facility in Greater Noida by July 2024- All Details
Vivo is set to open a new manufacturing plant in Greater Noida, India reported of the Economic Times. The facility, billed as one of the nation’s largest cell phone manufacturing facilities, will have an annual capacity of 120 million devices.
Vivo’s large scale and strategic location
Spread across an area of 170 acres, Vivo’s upcoming facility represents an investment exceeding Rs. 3,000 crore and is scheduled to be inaugurated this July. It is considered Samsung’s largest mobile manufacturing factory in the country, operating since 2018 with a capacity equivalent to 120 million units per year.

Earlier this month, Vivo relocated from its previous manufacturing unit, which is capable of producing 40 million devices per year. The site was later taken over by Micromax Informatics’ Bhagwati Enterprises unit under a lease from Vivo.
Local partnerships
Vivo is actively looking for Indian partners to strengthen its operations. Negotiations have been held with several potential partners, including Tata Group, Murugappa Group and Dixon Technologies, India’s leading contract manufacturer, to form a joint venture (JV). to manage its production efforts.

Sources familiar with discussions at Dixon Technologies revealed that talks are ongoing but no deal has been finalized. They mentioned Dixon’s interest in a partnership similar to the successful one it has established with Transsion in the manufacturing sector.
Meanwhile, the Tata Group has expressed its focus on expanding manufacturing capacity across the country through acquisitions and partnerships. A senior executive emphasized the group’s strategic interest in manufacturing facilities, stressing its intention to explore all avenues to scale operations, including potential discussions future capabilities with Vivo.
