In 2018, the artist was in a car accident that affected her knee. So for this particular trip, Pepa bought two seats on the flight and paid for wheelchair assistance from a greeter. She wore a knee brace.

However, after boarding the plane and taking both seats, a flight attendant allegedly told her that she was not allowed to do so. The reason was said to be because neither of Sandra Denton’s legs were in casts. She and the flight attendant went back and forth for a while before the Southwest Airlines employee allowed her to stay where she was.

Shortly after speaking with the flight attendant, Pepa said a man approached her and asked to sit in the second seat.

He allegedly said he was going to a funeral. She tried to explain why she had two seats. In response, the man insisted that he was flying to a funeral. Meanwhile, surrounding passengers allegedly began arguing over whether she should give up her seat. Eventually, the man took her seat.

Sandra’s assistant accompanied her. The rapper called the assistant to ask her to record the interactions, but officials kicked Pepa off the flight after just a few minutes.

She wasn’t given a reason at the time, but she was later told it was because she was recording and made the crew feel unsafe. The artist confirmed to TMZ Hip Hop that she never recorded the actual flight.

After the incident, Southwest Airlines reportedly reimbursed her $2,500 for both seats on the plane. However, she was not reimbursed for the $300 wheelchair service and $500 car service in Nashville. She was also given the opportunity to reschedule the meeting.

However, she told TMZ she’s looking into whether the airline violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, since her ticket was marked “for people with disabilities.”
