JioBharat Captures 50% Market Share in Sub-₹1,000 Segment: Here’s How Jio Achieved This


Reliance Industries’ 2024 annual report revealed that JioBharat, an affordable smartphone with a keyboard, has achieved an impressive market share of 50% in the segment. 1,000 segments.

This affordable device not only provides users with smartphone capabilities but also provides high-quality and affordable data, making it accessible to the common user.

How Jio can capture 50% market share

Despite the recent tariff hike across the industry, Jio has maintained stable pricing for JioBharat, allowing users to enjoy a full range of digital features for just $123 a month.

In contrast, the most affordable plans from other operators start from $199 a month and only gets access to limited features, limited to voice and SMS services as regular phones don’t support data or use LTE.

In a letter to shareholders, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd, stated, “The launch of JioBharat phone is another revolutionary step towards bridging the country’s digital divide. A smartphone at the price of a feature phone, JioBharat phone will significantly contribute towards the realization of a 2G-mukt Bharat.”

In 2016, when Jio launched, the company made a concerted effort to democratize internet access and bring the benefits of technology to every Indian.

With affordable high-speed data and widespread network coverage, technology is no longer the privilege of a few.

The subsequent launch of affordable devices like JioPhone and the advent of affordable wired broadband (JioFiber) has truly democratized data connectivity.

“With the launch of Jio 4G in 2016, we began our journey to make digital inclusion in India a reality. Jio transformed a data-dark India into a data-rich nation, providing every Indian household with affordable, high-speed 4G data. And this year, Jio has further enhanced the country’s digital infrastructure by rolling out the True5G network across India in world record time,” Mukesh Ambani said in his letter to shareholders in his latest annual report released on Thursday.
