Nintendo in Japan has announced that as of August 28, 2024, replacement parts for the New 3DS are out of stock. [KTR-001] model. This means it will no longer accept them for repair.
Earlier this yearNintendo has announced that they will stop repairing the 2DS, 3DS, and 3DS LL consoles. This is because they no longer stock the necessary parts. This means that if you want to send your 3DS in for any issues, you have a limited time before they run out of supplies. It took them a little over five months to run out of new 3DS parts. If you have a problem with your 2DS or 3DS LL, you can still send it in for repairs.
Considering that the 3DS launched in 2011, it’s no surprise that Nintendo has cut off support for consoles. Even the successors to both—the Switch—are coming soon, with rumors of a Switch 2 coming soon. If Nintendo runs out of parts, 2DS or 3DS players may not be able to continue using their devices if something goes wrong in the future.
