Zayn Malik Revealed as Nocturne, Shadow Duelist of Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Tournament
In a twist that sounds like something from the Battle City arc Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel MonstersOne Direction’s Zayn Malik was revealed on August 29, 2024 to be the first Shadow Duelist in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel tournament. During that event, he transformed into Nocturne and hid his face under a horned mask.
Zayn’s involvement in the tournament has nothing to do with the fact that his last name sounds like Marik Ishtar, one of the main villains of Battle City. He’s actually a Yu-Gi-Oh fan himself and talked about his passion for the game after being unmasked. Zayn shared his deck, as well as the fact that his favorite card is Shooting Star Dragon, which is also one of his best. The winner of Master Gladiator The tournament, Fictinium, won an autographed replica of Nocturne’s mask as part of the prize.
Zayn Malik was a member of One Direction, a huge and popular boy band from the early 2010s. He left the group in 2015 to start a solo career. His lead single was “Pillowtalk”, one of the clues that tournament organizers dropped when revealing the true identity of the mysterious gladiator Nocturne.
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel To be available above PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC and mobileThe game’s world championship will take place in Seattle on September 7 and 8, 2024.
