Konami has reiterated its plans for the second episode of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection but admitted that they did not want to rush development after “all the problems” they encountered with their first collection.

This update has been shared in ‘Q&A’ section of the latest broadcast ‘Metal Gear Production Hotline’Featuring film producer Noriaki Okamura.

After reconfirming that a second volume will definitely be made, Okamura mentioned that the development team is mindful of the fact that the first volume had “a pretty rough start” so the goal is to avoid repeating the same mistakes, which means this second collection may take a while:

“We’re also concerned that Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with a lot of issues, so we’ll do everything we can to make sure that doesn’t happen again, but we just have to ask everyone to give us time.”

While it’s not necessarily about sharing much about future new collections, the team still wants to “check in with everyone” regularly — even if the answer is “we can’t answer that question” or “we need more time.”

As for the games in this second collection, the team still seems uncertain about what might be included:

“Looking at potential titles… Okay, here’s the thing. We’ve got HD ports of MGS1, 2, and 3. Or, sorry, not really 1, but the other two. But most of the titles that have come out since then don’t have HD ports available that we can use. Some do have HD ports, but they’re all really big games and come with their own issues. So with all of these considerations with the lineup, anything along the lines of ‘what’s in it?’ Or questions like ‘how long will it be in development, when will it come out…’ It’ll be a while before we can get a clear picture, but when we do, we’ll let you know.”

This latest update follows a allegedly found on Konami’s official website In 2023, placeholder buttons for several Metal Gear titles were reportedly discovered including Metal Gear Solid 4: Patriots’ Guns, Metal Gear Solid: Peace WalkerAnd Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
