Plucky Squire’s Launch Trailer Is a Papercrafting Delight

After many years of waiting, brave gentleman Final launches on Switch tomorrow, September 17, 2024. And to celebrate, publisher Devolver Digital has released a launch trailer that perfectly showcases the game’s aesthetic and appeal.

The trailer shows us the world of Mojo in papercraft models, all created by Julia Yus And Yeray Perez Vallejo. The interesting sights are unbelievable detailed with an art style that fits perfectly with the 2D parts of the game. Even the transition scenes are made of paper.

We have shots of the different gameplay sections you’ll see in the game, as well as pop-up dioramas of the towns and locations you’ll visit. We wish this was an actual book we could go out and buy, to be honest.

Oh, and just to refresh your memory, there’s also a download guide for the game on official website. We sure read multiple video game manuals in the back of my parents’ car.

The Plucky Squire is a mix of 2D and 3D, with some parts taking place in a top-down world inside a book. In that book, the hero — Jot — can jump out of the pages and onto a table, where the gameplay switches to a 3D platformer.

We’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced. And while the game will be digital-only at first, a physical release is upcomingWhile the game will hit 60 FPS on most consoles, the Switch version sadly “cannot maintain that,” Devolver revealed last week.

Will you buy The Plucky Squire tomorrow? Leave a comment.
