Celebrating 30 years of PlayStation with a nostalgic look

As we continue our celebration of the 30th anniversary of the launch of the first PlayStation console, we’re revealing a special piece of information today that connects the past with the present.

Introducing the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection to celebrate this amazing milestone.

The new limited edition designs celebrate 30 years of great gaming, a journey made possible by the passion and support of fans and talented game developers. Reminiscent of the original PlayStation console launched on December 3, 1994, this limited edition product features the original PlayStation color design and integrates with the latest PS5 hardware lineup.

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be available in extremely limited quantities in the following options:

PlayStation 5 Pro – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
- Includes limited edition PS5 Pro console with 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 in supported territories, and matching limited edition accessories – DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, DualSense Charging Station, and Disc Drive Gamepad Cover (Drive sold separately).
- Also included is a standing base and special collectible items:

PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be released on November 21. There will be 12,300 PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle units available for purchase, with a limited edition number engraved on the unit. This number represents the month and day the first PlayStation console was released.

We’ve had five great console generations since the launch of the first PlayStation. We’re proud of the innovations and experiences we’ve brought to the PlayStation community over the years as we’ve kept up with the latest technology as it’s evolved. In the early days, the pixel count was around 300k, and now it’s over 8 million for 4K displays. Stereo sound has evolved into surround sound – and now we’re using 3D audio. Game controllers have evolved too, starting with buttons, then analog sticks, then vibration – and now we have haptics and even adaptive triggers. Everything we’ve done has been to make sure PlayStation is the best place to play. We believe that the beginning of our journey is an important part of our history at Sony Interactive Entertainment, which is why we are honoring this moment by bringing the original PlayStation design theme to our latest products for PS5 to celebrate the past 30 years.
