Back to August last year, when Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom only been in the wild for three months, we asked How your completion percentage is going. Given the scale of the game, it’s understandable that 37% of respondents have yet to defeat the final boss and thus still don’t know their completion rate.

However, nine months later, we imagine that many of you will defeat Ganondaddy in an epic duel and score the most anticipated Nintendo game of 2023…

Or have you? Speaking to the Nintendo Life team, it seems some of us still aren’t ready to beat TOTK, even a year after its release. The game is massive and there are so many of them other to do, we want to know if you like Tears of the Kingdom or if it has become your ultimate backburner. Or if *whisper* you are gone and never coming back.

To mark the first anniversary, we’re checking back to see who in the group has finished the fight and who is still enjoying the journey 366 days later. Apparently there are spoilers in the water…

I mean, I guess this isn’t really fair (since I reviewed the game) but yeah, I beat Ganondorf. I beat him over a year ago. Take that thing, Demon Lord. Is it easy? What the hell? I had no idea what I was getting into and was woefully unprepared. This isn’t like Breath of the Wild, which I played a few months after the game launched and had instructions on how to do it. Are not. It depends I to tell everyone How to deal with Ganondorf himself. *gulp*

So, for the first time, it happened… okay? I’ve reached stage 2, that’s all. But I ate the entire Gloom healing meal on the way to the boss without even thinking about the fact that Ganondorf himself might actually cause Deals damage and removes hearts, permanently. I studied really hard. But that doesn’t stop me from taking the plunge a second time, right? Or a third. It became a point of pride at the time. I will defeat Ganondorf without the Gloom healer.

In the end, I gave in and had to grow Sundelions, buy anti-Gloom armor and health-boosting foods. Basically, I just need to be patient and bring the tools. Oh, and make sure my Master Sword is ready. That last time, I tried to get through each stage.

In terms of completion percentage, I haven’t really touched the game in about six months, so I’m still at a high 60%. I feel pretty comfortable saying that I will never get to 100% because it’s so far away, distant too much to do and the game can lose its appeal. I got a lot done and other colleagues helped with things I couldn’t do. I’m happy.

Oh my God. I know I’m going to get a lot of backlash for this, but yes, I’m falling for Tears of the Kingdom again. I really tried at it, I swear. There’s just something about it that doesn’t appeal to me like that Breath of the wild and now I’m afraid that maybe I won’t try anymore.

So no, dear reader, I haven’t beaten Ganondorf yet. In fact, I’ll tell you how far I’ve come. I defeated the Water Power and the Wind Power, and that’s it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I definitely put some time into it and accumulated about 60-70 hours (significantly more than most games I’ve played), but now I know I Being so far away from beating the game makes me want to put it in a drawer forever.

So I’m sorry to Zelda and I’m sorry to Hyrule. I simply cannot help you this time.
