Adorable BMX Adventure ‘Tanuki: Pon’s Summer’ Confirmed for Switch
Newly formed indie studio Denkiworks today announced Tanuki: Pon’s Summer at the Tokyo Game Show and will be available on Nintendo Switch.
Set in a beautifully rendered Japanese town, you play as a single animal in a place that is traditionally inhabited by humans. You’ll engage in fun activities like catching big fish and cooking up some delicious sushi, but the bulk of the game will have you exploring the town on a BMX bike and making important deliveries.
The studio was co-founded by Liam Edwards, Taku Arioka and Jan de Graaf, the former of whom is actually the creator and director of the Switch title. Cursed to Play Golf; a title we have awarded the number of points 8/10 when it launches in 2022.
Hopefully Tankui: Pon’s Summer will be just as good. Here’s a quick recap:
“In TANUKI: Pon’s Summer, you take on the role of part-time postman Pon and ride your BMX around a picturesque Japanese town, delivering packages, performing magic tricks, and helping locals complete missions.
“In this wonderful summer adventure, you’ll enjoy fun activities like bug catching, sushi plating, baseball, sumo and more while unlocking various decorations to restore the Great Tanuki Shrine for the end-of-summer Matsuri festival! Experience village life and create your own unique story as you befriend (or annoy) a group of eccentric villagers and manage your relationships with an intuitive emoji-based conversation system!”
