Apalachee High School shooting: GBI provides earlier details


The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has released more details about what happened before the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School on Wednesday, September 4.

Here’s what the Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed

According to CNNThe GBI released more information about the tragic event on Thursday, September 12. The bureau confirmed that 14-year-old Colt Gray brought an AR-15-style gun into the classroom on September 4.

“This assault weapon is unbreakable, but Gray concealed it in his backpack,” the agency’s statement read.

Additionally, the statement asserts that Gray “ask a teacher if he could go to the front office and talk to someone.”

“The teacher allowed him to leave and take his belongings,” the statement explained. “Gray went into the bathroom and hid from the teacher. He then took out his rifle and started shooting.”

EQUAL Shade room Gray is accused of using a weapon to fatally shoot two other 14-year-olds and two teachers, as previously reported. The teenage victims has been determined since then were Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, while the teachers were identified as Christina Irmie and Richard Aspinwall.

Since the deadly incident, Gray has been charged with four counts of murder, while his father, Colin Gray, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder and child abuse, according to Shade room.

According to CNNIf Colt is convicted on all charges, “he could face life in prison.” If his father is also convicted, Colin “could face a maximum sentence of up to 180 years in prison.”

The newspaper noted that neither father nor son have pleaded guilty. Meanwhile, Atlanta News First added that the father and son will appear in court on December 4.

Furthermore, the news agency noted that “a grand jury has been constituted,” or selected. The grand jury will reportedly “consider formal charges against them” on October 17.

Meanwhile, Colt Gray’s mother, Marcee, has spoken out about the tragic event. She recently told the press that she tried to prevent “extreme emergency”.” Then, on Wednesday, September 12, a letter was released, sharing her words for the families of the victims affected by the shooting.
