Apple and Meta are not currently negotiating an AI partnership, Bloomberg News reported


Apple rejected Meta Platforms’ offer to integrate the social networking company’s AI chatbot into iPhones months ago, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

The companies are not currently discussing an AI partnership involving Meta’s Llama chatbot, and only held brief talks in March, the report said.

According to Bloomberg News, discussions about a potential partnership have not yet reached the formal stage, and Apple is not actively planning to integrate Llama into the iPhone because it does not consider its privacy protections. Instagram owners are Meta strict enough.

The preliminary talks come as Apple begins negotiating deals to use OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Alphabet’s Gemini in its products, the report said.

Apple unveiled its long-awaited AI strategy at its annual developer conference in early June, bringing OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot to its devices and integrating new “Apple Intelligence” technology across its suite of apps. , including virtual assistant Siri.

Apple and Meta did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
