Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller – PlayStation.Blog

Hello everyone! It’s nice to be back here to reveal another piece of information regarding Astro Bot.

First Look: Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller

If you’ve been following Astro news lately, you know that Team Asobi has been hard at work on a brand new game that’s coming out on September 6. The game features over 50 planets, new powers, tons of enemies, secrets, and PlayStation characters to collect. And it also features a DualSense wireless controller that turns into a living character and helps Astro on his quest.

Today, we’re excited to announce that you’ll be able to embark on Astro’s new mega adventure with the awesome new DualSense wireless controller – the Astro Bot Limited Edition.

We know many of you were hoping for this after seeing the gameplay trailer. So we quickly asked our lovely bots to design this beauty and tada! No, no, I’m just kidding; it’s been a while in the making, carefully crafted by the amazing teams at SIE. And they did a fantastic job.

The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the grips and buttons, etched sci-fi lines, and the signature playful eyes on the touchpad. It’s a true work of art, and we couldn’t be happier with the end result at Team Asobi.

With this dynamic addition to your device, a mega space adventure awaits you…

Starting Friday, August 9 at 7 a.m. PT in the US and 10 a.m. local time in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal, players will be able to pre-order the DualSense Wireless Controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition via direct.playstation.com, as well as from select retailers. Pre-orders will also be available through select retailers in other global markets on the same day. The DualSense Wireless Controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition will be available in limited quantities for $79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99 / £11,980 and will launch on September 6, the same day as the Astro Bot launch.

I’ll take this opportunity to summarize some of the cool things this new Astro Bot game does with the DualSense wireless controller.

First, as many of you would expect from an Astro game, you can feel the surfaces that Astro runs and slides on, from grass, sand, metal to softer textures or water. That was already the case with Astro’s Playroom, but we’ve increased the number of textures you can feel through the controller.

Next, we doubled down on adaptive triggers combined with haptic feedback, tying them closely to Astro’s new powers. For example, when using Barkster, the bulldog Jetpack, you can feel the thrusters clicking against your fingers in sync with the animations, which feels very dynamic and immersive. Each new power-up gets special treatment so you can experience a variety of expressions through your fingers.

Finally, given the number of enemies and boss fights we’ve added to this new adventure, it’s important to focus on combat and impact by incorporating all of the above. Whether it’s stretching, pounding, or slamming into hard surfaces, there are a variety of new impacts to experience in Astro Bot.

And of course, we can’t end this post without mentioning the Dual Speeder, one of Astro’s most frequent gadgets, allowing him to fly around various planets. The Dual Speeder makes full use of motion controls, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback. Here’s a look at a very early concept sketch and what it looks like in the final game.

That’s it! We’ll be back soon with more Astro Bot news. Until then, let us know in the comments what you think of this awesome DualSense wireless controller – the Astro Bot Limited Edition!

Astro Bot is coming to PS5 on September 6th, we’re waiting for you all to join Astro in his first big new adventure.
