Astro’s Playroom’s Second Update Is Now Live, Hiding a New Special Bot in the Game – PlayStation.Blog

Hello everyone! We hope you’re gearing up for a fun summer and have enjoyed the gaming news over the past few weeks.

In preparation for the launch of Astro Bot on September 6, we wanted to reveal to you some of the surprises we have in store for our community.

In Astro Bot, you and Astro set out on a mission to rescue a crew of 300 bots that have been scattered across the galaxy. Many of the bots that make up the crew are guest characters from PlayStation history. There are over 150 to collect, each with their own fun animations related to the game they originated from.

To add to the fun, we’ve hidden these 4 Special Bots inside Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-loaded on every PS5 console. By unlocking these 4 hidden characters in Astro’s Playroom, you’ll be able to bring them with you into the new game, Astro Bot, and add them to your starting lineup. Are you following along?

On June 7th, we released the first of these 4 special Bots. Being the clever robots that they are, we thought it would be fun to turn this into a treasure hunt puzzle and see how long it would take people to solve it. Surprisingly, it took the community less than 3 hours to solve the puzzle. It was amazing. If you missed it, here’s a quick recap of what you had to do.

We’ve hidden a secret capsule in the first area of the GPU Jungle. To make it appear, you have to stand on top of a large tree near the edge of the level, right behind the Bloodborne Hunter Bot. Inside the capsule, another Special Bot (Lady Maria) appears to be trapped and needs to be rescued.

On the capsule itself, we’ve included a small hint that shows an image of a clock. But what could that mean? Look closely around the nearby level and you’ll see a similar clock symbol carved into one of the trees above. It’s a few jumps away from there. It’s behind a tree, the furthest away.

That’s where things get tricky (or so we thought!). Standing there, you have to pause the game by pressing the options button. Instead of a normal pause, this brings up a special Astral Clock screen. By entering 24.11.2015 (or November 24, 2015, the original release date of the Bloodborne DLC featuring Lady Maria), the clock hands will magically turn and…

The capsule opens, letting our special Bot free. Well done, let’s celebrate with a trophy!

Once freed, Lady Maria will be waiting for you in the Mission Room, ready to transfer to Astro Bot when you are ready.

Just a few days ago, we added a second special Bot, Selene, from Returnal on PS5. Once again, working together, you were able to solve the puzzle and free her to achieve 2 out of 4.

We hope you enjoy these updates as much as we had fun creating them! In addition to these special Bots, PlayStation Labo has received an update, so we invite you to check them out and add new artifacts to your collection.

That’s it. But the treasure hunt doesn’t end here! We’ll be back soon with two more puzzles before Astro Bot launches. And from the looks of it, we might have to make the next ones a little harder.

Thanks to all of you who played with us and we will see you again soon!
