Bayonetta veteran confirms PlatinumGames’ departure
the bayonet Developer PlatinumGames reportedly said goodbye to many veterans (including Hideki Kamiya) last year.
Now, in another studio update, it has been confirmed Bayonetta’s Origin: Cereza and the Lost Demon director Abebe Tinari also left. According to his LinkedIn, he has moved on to PlayStation’s Housemarque (Give back) as lead game designer.
He has worked at PlatinumGames for over a decade and has also worked on games such as Guardian fox stars (including system design, enemy design, and user interface specification) and bayonet 2 (localized) for Wii U.
This update follows last month’s news Tinari removed his references to PlatinumGames on social media. At the time, he also acknowledged speculation about some “directors leaving PlatinumGames” mentioning that “the game was not created by one person” and signed off on the following:
“There are so many talented Artists, Designers, Programmers and Musicians still at PlatinumGames. I advise you not to count them yet. I can’t wait to see what they do next!”
Bayonetta Origins was released exclusively on Switch in 2023 and is an action-adventure story-style game that serves as a prequel to the main trilogy.
In other Platinum news, the developer yesterday announced it will be running a year-long event focusing on the original Bayonetta to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya left the studio last year, announcing that he was working on a new film. Okami game in collaboration with Capcom.
