Best Anime Series of 2024
2024 is coming to an end, which means it’s time to look back at this year in terms of anime TV series. This year has been a pretty good one, mainly thanks to some excellent series in Fall 2024, which make up the majority of the best anime series of 2024.
However, for most of the year, the seasons struggled to survive with only a few standout shows here and there. Even some returning favorites suffer from poor animation, writing, or quality. In terms of story, characters, action, writing, animation, etc., these are my picks for the best anime of 2024 that everyone should watch.
Best Anime Series of 2024: TsumaSho
Although I wrote this list in no particular order, the one exception is my pick for overall best anime of the year: TsumaSho. Yes, the title is rage bait. But the actual content is incredible. This is one of the most powerful romantic masterpieces in a long time. A husband and his daughter lose their wife/mother, but 10 years later she returns as a reincarnated child. It’s heartbreaking, realistic, and deals with pain in some wonderful ways. But, yes, it can still make her grow up and it still works.
Dan Da Dan
Dan Da Dan is one of the most surprising and engaging series in a long time. It started out as a fairly simple supernatural series with two main characters investigating aliens and ghosts. But there is so much more to the series than this. Witty dialogue, beautiful animation, and the exploration of the relationship between the two main characters make this one of the most impressive must-see films of the year.
Delicacies in the dungeon
Don’t let the medieval fantasy feel of this series deter you. The world building in this series is amazing and it might be the funniest anime of the year. The film follows a group of adventurers who travel through dungeons and use the ingredients they find to create some amazing dishes. This is an outstanding light-hearted movie from 2024.
Senpai is an Otokonoko
Anime series often don’t have queer characters and good communities. If you want something a little more loving and understanding, this is it. This painful exploration of a strange character unsure of their identity and appeal was much more realistic than I could have expected.
My Hero Academia season 7
If there’s one thing I’m almost always sure of, it’s that My Hero Academy Have another excellent season. Season 7 is the second to last season of the series and it beautifully adapts much of the final season of the series. Season 7 is likely to be the best of the series. It’s unhindered with plenty of standout battles from Todoroki vs. Dabi to Ochaco vs. Toga and more. This season has made a strong argument for MHA becoming one of the best anime of all time.
