We’re back, back, back with another version of Brawl Box Art!

Before we get into this week’s match, let’s take a look at what happened last time when we look at the two area covers for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Despite two luxurious designs on display, the dark, moody European and North American covers won with 65% of the votes, far outpacing the bright Japanese cover with 35%.

Going into this week, we thought it was only right to show some love for Donkey Kong, so we’re taking a look at three regional covers for DK: King of Swing on GBA. It may not be at the top of anyone’s list best Donkey Kong gameBut King of Swing is still a fresh take on the gorilla game from developer Paon, taking the essence of Cu Cu Land and turn it into an exciting climbing adventure.

There were various cover versions from Europe, North America and Japan during this time, so let’s get started shall we?

Make sure you vote in the poll below; But first, let’s take a look at the box designs.

Europe

We’ll start with the bright European design. In this case, DK and Diddy take center stage, each grabbing one of the ‘pegs’ in the game that hover ominously in the air. It doesn’t make the most sense, and the exterior lighting of the characters feels a bit Photoshop-like, but we like the character art and the bright backgrounds are definitely eye-catching.

North America

The North American version is also nice and bright, but lacks the main ‘Swing’ element of the title. Instead of holding on to a handrail, DK and Diddy are seen free-falling here. Hey, at least they look happy about it.

Japan

The Japanese cover takes the character art from each of the above versions and puts it on a completely new yellow background. This is arguably the ‘simplest’ variant of the three, but many of the pins fit the gameplay, and we particularly like how the title is hung on one of them on a wooden plaque.

Thanks for voting! We’ll see you next time in another round of Box Art Brawl.
